About Us

The Dynamic Duo

JP Longueil, former GM of Whispering Pines Country Club, and David Bungarz, the chef behind the club’s barbecue restaurant, Whispering Q, are risking it all for the brisket on an independent venture: Embers on Broad.

JP (shown on the left) grew up playing golf and even played professionally throughout his golf career. Although he’s not playing for money anymore, he would probably still take yours if you wagered a bet on the course.

In 2021, JP hung up his golf course operator hat to take on a passion project that involves, well, of course BBQ. Together with David Bungarz, (shown on the right) the two have transformed the former Broad Street Bakery into Embers BBQ. 

JP met David while he was the Chef slash chief “get it done” at the Country of Whispering Pines in nearby Whispering Pines, NC. 

David’s uncanny ability to create “melt in your mouth” BBQ dishes led JP to recruit David from his former post. This “dynamic duo” are excited to share their passion for fun and food with locals and visitors alike.
